More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.Brownsville Safety Alliance Mobile Response program is part of the Neighborhood Safety Alliance Hub in Brownsville. The Brownsville Hub's mission is to increase access to health, behavioral health, housing, employment and supportive services, as part of a hyper-local strategy to improve public safety and reduce crime, particularly gun violence. In close partnership with ICL as the coordinating body, the goal of the Mobile Response program is to provide care to a single client or family unit and connect them with the services and resources they need. The Mobile Response Program is an integral part of the Hub Steering Committee that meets monthly to discuss broader issues of community safety and wellness.Position: Brownsville Safety Alliance Project CoordinatorReports To: Program DirectorLocation: 1667 Pitkin Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11212What The BSA Coordinator Does:
  • Participate in all Situation Table meetings to coordinate efforts and share critical information.
  • Lead mobile response efforts in collaboration with other BSA Roundtable partners and local mobile response teams.
  • Identify new high-risk cases within the BIVO team and ensure they are prioritized for presentation at the Situation Table.
  • Coordinate with BIVO team members to ensure they are consistently bringing new cases to the Situation Table for discussion and potential intervention.
  • Conduct door knocks with the BIVO Response Outreach worker and ICL team to reach clients at elevated risks.
  • Take a lead role in organizing the week-long Brownsville Safety Alliance events in collaboration with ICL, BSA Partners, and the 73rd Precinct.
  • Assist in organizing at least one anti-violence community activity per month to foster community engagement, provide resources, and connect neighbors.
  • Cultivate a volunteer base of 2 to 3 core volunteers to participate in Brownsville Safety Alliance events through community mobilization or other program activities.
  • Establish and maintain a relationship with ICL to ensure the timely exchange of essential information.
  • Maintain regular participation in meetings coordinated by the funder or other relevant external parties.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of monthly program reports to ICL using the prescribed tool/mechanism.
  • Collaborate with local technical assistance providers and maintain contact as required by the funder.
  • Available to respond and work during evenings, overnight, and weekends for shooting responses and events between 9am and 4am.
  • Ensure that all client files and program documentation are compliant with CAMBA and funder standards.
  • Ensure systematic recordkeeping of program performance indicators, participant caseload, and program highlights.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Program Director and other CAMBA management staff regarding programmatic matters.
  • Participate in meetings with funders or external agencies as requested.
  • May have direct client service/program responsibilities in addition to the above.
  • Tasks may be modified, expanded, and/or assigned over time to meet program needs.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
  • HS Diploma or GED and 3 years applicable experience, or Associate's degree (A.A.) and 2 years' experience, or Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.W.) and/or equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
  • Experience working with NYC Crisis Management System is a plus.
  • Equally at home conversing with gang members, community activists, law enforcement personnel, and public officials.
  • Subject to a criminal background check and random drug testing.
  • No pending criminal cases or prior convictions for sexual assault, child abuse or domestic violence or history thereof.
  • Strong knowledge of the Brownsville community.
  • Experience working with court-involved young adults.
  • Experience working with staff with criminal justice histories preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in community-based crisis intervention.
  • Familiarity with Brownsville 73rd Police Precinct community challenges of teens and young adults there; strongly preferred.
Compensation: $55,000 annuallyWhen salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate.
