Documents overall material need, including all codes, brands, and contact information necessary to process orders. Adjusts amounts for existing inventory and for orders of conventional sizes. The Materials Planner I assists with the purchasing of materials, working with vendors, negotiating prices / terms, scheduling materials and providing administrative support to the management team. Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values are key to success in this position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review purchase requisitions and source the optimal combination of quality, price and delivery for MRO items
- Manage multiple, time sensitive material requirements in a fast-paced, customer driven environment
- Interpret drawings, blue prints and item related technical information
- Communicate/Coordinate proactively any issues regarding material quality, price and delivery that has a direct impact with all relevant departments and facilities; including Engineering, Sales, Operations, Quality Assurance and Materials Management
- Expedite deliveries and communicate current information
- Coordinate the return of any non-conforming material with Quality Assurance and Materials Management
- Make delivery commitments on MTO products, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity
- Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels in ensure high service levels, i.e. product availability
- Must be willing and capable of working the hours necessary to meet the needs of the Position
- Utilize ICCs Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) APS System to develop and maintain production plans and schedules for the ICC production operations. Maintain key planning parameters in the Item Master, Warehouse Master, Bill of Material, Work Centers, Resources, Routings and Operations
- Review, adjust, and firm up plan order APS/MRP action notice messages / recommendations to meet customer (external and internal) and optimizing production operation productivity. Determine and validate available capacity and material availability before planned orders are firmed up
- Insure priority alignment with plant in order to execute Production Schedule on a daily and weekly basis
- Develop inventory targets and manage production to achieve targeted inventory levels
- Identify and implement system and process improvements within the supply chain to enable overall business process improvements
- Answer telephones and transfer to appropriate staff members
- Take messages and insure that they get to the proper employees
- Greets all visitors and guests who enter into the building, determines the nature of their visit and routes them to the appropriate employee or department. Assures all guests and visitors sign in
- Sign for and distribute to proper personnel UPS/FedEx packages
- Open mail and distribute to the appropriate employee or department
- Process and deliver outgoing mail to point of shipment
- Maintains office supply cabinet and orders supplies as needed for office and other plant personnel
- Alphabetizes incoming vendor invoices
- Performs other clerical duties such as light typing, filing, faxing and distributing incoming faxes
- Contact customers and handle vendor solicitation requests as needed
- Support management team in assigned project-based work
- Enter production data for the purpose of accurate inventory management into Company-based computer system
- Enter Company transfers from one plant to another
- Assist in inventory control, adjusting in inventory where needed
- Make sure office is professional looking, cleaning up clutter when necessary
- Enter production data for the purpose of accurate cost efficiency reporting into appropriate
- reports
- Figure time cards for both full-time and seasonal employees receiving approval from
- management team before submitting
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of business information
- Send out sample requests received from sales
- Match invoices to POs and give to management for approval before sending on for payment
- Other duties as assigned
- Insure there is no interruption to Operations as a result of missed or improperly scheduled deliveries
- Evaluate material requirements and place appropriate standard and blanket purchase orders for stocked raw materials using an ERP system
- Communicate to proper parties when critical items are received
- Determine the root cause of erroneous material requirements and take appropriate action
