POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to provide project, field, and environmental reporting support in ensuring regulatory requirements of permits and obligations associated with air, water, waste, hazardous materials and wildlife programs are met. Primary responsibility is in preparing and submitting required environmental reports, as well as managing environmental projects, including environmental facility wide improvement initiatives and programs. Provide technical assistance and represent company environmental interests to management, employees, governmental/regulatory personnel, and others on matters regarding compliance, permitting and reporting. Research, analyze, prepare, and/or approve information that may include, but is not limited to air quality, water quality, hazardous and solid waste. Provide oversight and management of compliance documentation with the various permits, plans, and commitments. Assist Environmental Superintendent in information requests and preparation of charts and graphs to identify trends and summarize data. Assist other Environmental Specialists in compliance reporting as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in compliance with all Pinto Valley Mine and MSHA safety guidelines and procedures
Work in compliance with all Capstone Policies and Standards as well as Pinto Valley Mine Procedures and Plans
Ensure that employees and contractors are competent to execute the tasks / jobs assigned
REPORTS AND RECORDS
* Prepares and reviews reports to regulatory agencies. Including, but not limited to the APP and AZPDES regulatory programs. (SMRF, DMR, APP Annual Report and AZPDES Annual Report, Solid Waste Landfill Report, Hazardous Waste reports, etc.)
* Utilizes Capstone HSE Management System for managing data, compliance requirements and environmental reporting.
* Works with corporate to develop and implement sustainability goals including energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reductions, water conservation, recycling, green purchasing practices, etc.
* Quantifies and tracks performance of sustainability goals and reports results to leadership for inclusion into annual sustainability report.
PROCEDURES AND PLANS
* Develops procedures and plans for environmental activities and permitted equipment as required by permits and regulations.
AUDITS AND REVIEWS
* Conducts environmental audits to ensure compliance with various environmental regulatory requirements.
* Reviews requests and reports regarding new chemicals, facility changes and projects that have the potential to impact environmental compliance. Approves or makes recommendations for alternatives as needed.
* Informs leadership regarding potential violations, areas of potential risk and other environmental concerns that may impact the facility.
SAMPLING AND DATA COLLECTION
* Collects field samples and data using scientific principles and approved methodologies.
TRAINING
* Develops and provides training to facility staff regarding environmental topics.
PERMITS AND REGULATIONS
* Supports compliance with environmental programs focusing on water quality, air quality, HazCom, Waste, SPCC, AZPDES, MSGP, and APP.
* Prepares permit modification applications.
* Maintains knowledge of current and updated regulations to ensure that the facility continues to operate compliantly.
CERTIFICATIONS
* Maintains DOT and RCRA certification as required by regulation.
* Maintains Method 9 certification for visual opacity monitoring of stacks (recertify every 6 months as required by regulation).
* Maintains ADEQ Certified Operator for water and wastewater (Optional).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
* Bachelor's degree in environmental or natural science/engineering-related field
* Experience providing technical support to ensure compliance with established standards and governmental regulations for air quality, water quality, wastewater, waste, wildlife and/or remediation
* Application of math, algebraic formulas, calculus and statistics
* Mining experience a plus
