Summary/Objective:The Athletic Training Supervisor represents the Athletic Training Department by facilitating effective communication within the athletic training room at their assigned location and with the entire Athletic Training Department, in addition to all Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster (OAL) staff: other departments, management and providers.The Athletic Training Supervisor serves as the athletic trainer and representative at their assigned location. This individual will assist in all aspects of running a successful athletic training program at their assigned school, administrative tasks, documentation, and communicating with OAL's supervising physician assigned to their school. The Athletic Training Supervisor provides leadership and direction to staff during event coverage to maintain a work environment that promotes the creative development of ideas and allows employees to meet and/or exceed expectations and established standards of performance. The employee will support initiatives and programs that develop staff working as efficiently, accurately, and as productively as possible. The Athletic Training Supervisor will support the compliance and/or oversee the compliance with all policies and procedures.The duties listed here are in addition to the Athletic Training Supervisor customary duties in their position at Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster.Responsibilities:Essential Job FunctionsSupervisor RolePromotes the mission and values of the organization.Foster the relationship between OAL and school contracts/event coordinators.Communicate effectively with athletic directors/event coordinators to help assist with coverage needs.Construct and assist in managing school contracts/organizing event coverage needs and inputting them into scheduling software.Review and/or update policies and procedures, standard operating procedures, and emergency action plans for contracted schools/organizations.Assist contracted schools with inventory when requested.Help foster the relationship between OAL athletic trainers, coaching staff, athletic directors, organizations, and other school community members.Help foster a relationship with local EMS, urgent cares, and hospital systems.Participate with interview process and selection of team members.Assist with orientation, education, and training for new employees,Ensure timely and accurate approval of athletic trainers timecards as assigned.Actively utilize improvement strategies/tools to positively impact all aspects of operations.Observe and develop performance feedback reviews for athletic trainers as assigned.Ensure athletic trainers are documenting to OAL standards.Provide monthly check-ins with OAL athletic trainers.Deliver performance reviews and construct coaching plans to improve performance concerns.Responsible for aiding in the positive motivation and environment of employees.Responsible for positive inter-departmental communication.Ensures that any issues that arise that have the potential of affecting the entire department are effectively communicated in a consistent manner to ensure that all team members receive the same information.Oversight of OALs continuing education (CEU) programEnsure compliance of all CEU accreditation to include but not limited to:Comply with all Board of Certification (BOC) guidelines.Read and maintain provider maintenance requirements.Maintain appropriate records of all events.Timely submission of Provider Annual Report with BOC.Coordinate, develop, and host CEU events:Responsible for organizing events.Responsible for organizing guest speakers for events.Seek input from colleagues and peers on guest speaker topics.Topics must address needs analysis in orthopedics, sports medicine, and athletic training.Other duties as assigned.Athletic Trainer RoleProvide services directed toward achieving increased functional independence, decreasing functional limitations, and prevention of injuries to the individual patient/athlete.Upon the advance advice and consent of a physician, conduct the practice of prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, disposition, treatment, and/or rehabilitation of injuries.Performs evaluations of injuries, follows standing order for treatments, manages injuries, refers athletes to physician when deemed necessary.Provide education in the prevention of injuries, conditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries.Document evaluative findings, treatments administered, the patient assessment and the patients treatment plan.Clean and maintain treatment area and workspace.Provide emergency care within the Athletic Training scope of practice.Ability to work in a wide variety of settings.Effectively communicate with the patient/athlete, family, physician, and/or coach regarding the patient/athlete's injury and his/her ability to return to work/practice/competition.Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.Other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience:Bachelor's or master's degree from a CAATE accredited university athletic training program.Licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.Must hold a current BLS for healthcare providers.Must have all state required clearances.Preferred Education and Experience:Three (3) or more years of athletic training experienceForceful communication skills for accurate, concise, and organized verbal and written interactions with patients and co-workers.Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.Our Commitment to Inclusivity:At OAL and its affiliated organizations, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace environment.
