College/Department Information
At Augusta University, research takes prominence by taking place everywhere and among everyone: in wet labs and archives, with senior investigators and sophomore classes, in our health care facilities and our community. Research aims to advance knowledge that addresses the cultural, economic, health and societal needs of the communities we serve through research, scholarship, and creativity.
Job Summary
As a member of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research, the incumbent supports the research mission of the university by supporting students, researchers, and faculty in several ways, including providing budgetary assistance with oversight for the Sr. Vice President for Research.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
SVP Office Financial Oversight
Under the direction of the Director of Research Business Operations provides assistance with budgetary oversight for the Sr. Vice President for Research:
* Assists with the management of all Research Administration operating budgets (~$2.2 M in State Appropriation, ~$4.2M in F&A funds, ~$3.4M in Revenue funding, $320k in WMCGH funds).
* Assist with managing all research program funding.
* Assists with maintaining records relating to financial commitments made by the SVPR (may cross multiple fiscal years).
* Assists with monitoring budgets of all units reporting to the SVPR Office.
* Assists with coordinating annual budget preparation for units reporting to SVPR.
* Assists with coordinating funding for SVPR projects with departments, colleges, and other institutions.
* Assists with providing agency account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
AURI Financial Oversight
Under the direction of the Director of Research Business Operations assists with providing fiscal oversight for Augusta University Research Institute, Inc. (AURI):
* Assists with tracking operational and program budgets for reporting to AURI Board of Directors and AURI Finance Committee and provides monthly financial reports to the Executive Director (~ $3M in expenditures annually).
* Provides data and schedules for AURI annual external audit.
* Assists with managing AURI accounts payable, accounts receivable, including federal drawdown payments and royalty payments (~ $90M in annual receipts).
* Assists with reconciliation of financials on a monthly basis.
* Assists with managing AURI's investment/savings accounts (Approximate value $6 Million).
* Assists with the preparation of annual 1099 forms to external vendors.
Asset Management Control
Assists the Director of Research Business Operations as asset management control officer for research units (other than LAS and OIC).
Assist with managing procurement operations for SVPR Office, Division of Sponsored Programs Administration, Institutional Review Board, and Research Development Office:
* Assists with large purchases to ensure proper departmental inventory allocation.
* Participate in annual inventory audit.
Manage HR Operations
Assists with the management of HR operations for SVPR Office, Division of Sponsored Programs Administration, Institutional Review Board, and Research Development Office:
* Create Position Classification Form, gather all applicable signatures and submit new position openings in OneUSG Connect.
* Seek out external advertising agencies/ organizations to recruit candidates.
* Serve as back up time and absence approval for research units.
* Assist in preparing and submit reclassification requests, market review requests, updated job descriptions, and additional salary requests to compensation ensuring all appropriate documentation is included in requests and appropriate signatures are obtained.
General Administrative Duties
Assist with the submission of new departmental request forms to establish new research unit requests, agency accounts, core lab departments.
Prepare and coordinate with other units as applicable, Annual Resource Alignment Presentation.
Serve as backup security access authorizer for AU information system requests.
Other
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline with one year of administrative and/or management experience.
OR
Associate's degree with two years of relevant experience.
OR
High School diploma with three years of administrative and fiscal management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with three years of progressively responsible research administration experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Knowledge of business operations (procurement, bookkeeping, asset management, human resources, etc.).

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary Minimum: $52,500-$65,600 annually.
Pay Band: B10
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
