ACHD works towards an informed African Diaspora immigrant and refugee community that is engaged in the holistic development of families, communities, and environment. ACHD focuses on equitable and culturally relevant health, legal, and educational services; housing stability and economic development; and land use, real estate, and property development. ACHD staff speak a collective 13 languages, and more than 80% identify as Black or People of Color.About the Position: The Human Resources Specialist plays an integral role in the internal function of the organization. ACHD's employees are the organization's most valuable asset, and this position is critical in ensuring that employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner, compensated competitively, able to understand and access the organization's policies and procedures, and treated fairly in all aspects of employment. In addition, this position will manage the agency's hiring and recruitment processes to ensure that ACHD is attracting and retaining the best and brightest talent.Position Duties:Manage recruitment and hiring for all open positions, including:
- Craft new job descriptions
- Route personnel requisition forms for approval
- Post job descriptions on HRIS, website, and relevant industry job boards
- Recruit candidates via LinkedIn, direct contact, word-of-mouth network activation, etc
- Perform phone screens to confirm candidate eligibility
- Schedule in-person interviews with relevant hiring committees
- Request and check candidate references
- Confirm candidate work history
- Prepare offer letters
- Answer general candidate questions
Steward employees throughout their time at ACHD, including:
- New hire reporting
- New hire onboarding and training
- Handle employee grievances
- Handle ADA accommodation requests
- Manage unemployment and FMLA administration
- Process employee terminations, including offboarding and exit interviews
Assist in developing ACHD compensation packages that are competitive with industry standards and local cost of living, including.
- Participate in annual wage and benefit surveys
- Analyze pay and benefit structure
Benefits management, including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP, and 401(k)Process monthly employee payroll accurately and on-time
- Assist with payroll allocation and reporting
- Assist with time sheets and leave management
Ensure staff are informed of and compliant with ACHD policies and procedures
- Update and manage employee handbook, HR policies, and agency procedures as needed
- Answer staff questions about BambooHR and internal policies and procedures as needed
- Create and execute staff trainings as needed
Ensure ACHD is compliant with all relevant labor law and employment policyManage all aspects of HRIS systemRequired Qualifications:
- Accuracy, strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail
- Team player; comfortable working collaboratively in a multicultural environment
- Ability to work compassionately and respectfully with diverse array of community members
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and demands, establish priorities, manage deadlines, and work effectively in an energetic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Proficiency in human resources software systems
- Fluency in English
- Clear communicator
- Background check and proof of COVID vaccination will be required
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience with BambooHR and/or Paylocity human resources software
- Degree or certification program completion in Nonprofit Administration, Human Resources, or related field
- Fluency in a language other than English, especially Somali, Swahili, Oromo, Amharic, or Tigrinya
