Summary Description

The job description for the Pre-Admission Testing Nurse incorporates the Association of PeriOperative Nurse, Registered Nurses' Standards, Guidelines and Recommended Practices (AORN). The Pre-Admission Testing Nurse provides a crucial role in assessing patients before admission, and reports to the Director of Nursing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conducts thorough assessments of patients scheduled for surgical or invasive procedures to evaluate their physical and emotional readiness.

2. Understands and interprets physicians' orders, reviews lab values. Checks accuracy of admission paperwork (history, consents, instructions, etc.)

3. Educate patients and their families on pre-op instructions, including what to expect with their upcoming procedure.

4. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including documentation of assessments, care plans, and communication with other healthcare team members.

5. Review patients' medical histories, including pre-existing conditions, allergies, medications, and previous surgeries, to identify potential risks or complications

6. Assess and document patients' current medications, including dosage and frequency. Follows Rincon ASC's protocols and procedures in regards to patients' medications and NPO status.

7. Ability to utilize the Language Line for interpretation services.

6. Maintains a positive attitude, even during periods of stress and challenge.

7. Maintains positive attendance and communicates in advance any absences from work.

Qualifications

1. Current licensure in this State as a Registered Nurse.

2. Previous work experience in admissions, clinic, hospital, or ambulatory surgery center setting, no less than one (1) year.

3. Proof of current BLS training/education.

4. Competence in oral and written communicationThe Pre-Admission Testing Nurse is classified as a non-exempt employee and is eligible for overtime pay according to the provisions stated in the surgery center's personnel policies. This position will include benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401K).
