Every employee takes a person-centered approach that exemplifies the ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) through empathic communication and partnerships between all persons.PurposeJob DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, physician, or other health care professional, performs a variety of clinical and clerical duties associated with the care of patients in Maternal Children Health Services/Mother Baby Unit.Specific Duties And Responsibilities Performs and assists with the physical care of patients, age newborn to 55 years old e.g., taking and recording of vital signs, assisting with infant feeding and diapering. Provide age appropriate care to newborns, infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-agers. Participate in the patient's plan of care. The admission, transfer and discharge process. Prepare and transport patients for specific examinations, tests and procedures to Labor & Delivery, and Sonography, 8th floor. Participates in unit reports/rounds as appropriate. Maintain the safety of patients while working. Verify infant with mother when taking infant to mother's bedside. Assist with monitoring of entrance door to Mother Baby Unit. Participate in PI and TJC activities. Perform other related duties as assigned, e.g., Assisting mothers with peri-care and other personal needs. Maintains compliance with National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG).Identifies patient utilizing two patient identifiers, name and date of birth, during all encounters with patients, including phlebotomy and other specimen collection.Communicates issues that may affect patient and staff safetyComplies with infection control practices to ensure patient/employee safety such as hand washing, proper utilization of PPE, etc. Maintains patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA rules and regulations.Minimum Qualifications Graduation from elementary school. Successful completion of a basic skills training program for Nurse Aides, or its equivalent.Department PreferencesKnowledge, Skills And Abilities Exhibition of courteous and effective communication with all health care team members, patients and families with respect of cultural diversity.
