Affiliate Supervision Faculty Position Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy (MSMFT) Program Reports to: Department Chair or Associate Director for Clinical Training and Supervision Department: Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy - Online Branch, Northwestern University FLSA Status: Contract-based POSITION DESCRIPTION: Affiliate Supervision Faculty, also referred to as Program Clinical Supervisors for the online branch of the Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy (MSMFT) lead supervision course sections and monitor students' progress in their placements. Affiliate Supervision Faculty will likely lead one or more sections in a given quarter, but there are no guarantees of assignment from one quarter to the next. The Program Clinical Supervisor operates within the guidelines and requirements of the MSMFT program, Northwestern University, the AAMFT code of ethics, and relevant State of Illinois law. The supervisor's performance and contract are reviewed on an ongoing basis by the Associate Director for Clinical Training and Supervision and the Department Chair. Program Clinical Supervisors provide educational content, consistent with COAMFTE requirements, that supports the development of relational/systemic, multiculturally informed, and ethically competent therapists. Specific to the MSMFT program, Program Clinical Supervisors support the program's mission, goals and student learning outcomes, including the acquisition of knowledge and skills within the practice of Integrative Systemic Therapy. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Provide high-quality synchronous supervision for online, masters-level Marriage and Family Therapy Internship courses•Complete 10 weeks of approximately 3 hours of work per week. •Infuse integrative systemic theory and practice into course material •Infuse DEI into course material, class discussions and conceptualization •Follow the course plan established in the syllabus and the LMS, including the suggestions given for the live sessions. •Meet occasionally with the faculty Course Lead to discuss course procedures, program updates, curriculum development, and issues specific to students in your course section. •Complete all required evaluations of student's work each quarter (Basic Family Therapy Skills Form, Group supervisor Evaluation of Supervisee form) •Monitor the students' accomplishment of clinical training requirements. •Require students to present video recordings of their work in accordance with program training requirements. •Approve Supervision hours completed in Internship Course •Communicate, Coordinate, and Consult with Student's Site Supervisor regarding student training and performance. •Supports students and oversees student's satisfactory progress in internship process •Consult with Associate Director for Clinical Training and Supervision regarding student issues in internship course and placement site. •Familiarize themselves with Tevera and use it competently to track training documentation •Respond to all correspondence within 48 hours. •Provide additional support and guidance to students as needed. •Submit grades to faculty Course Leads in a timely fashion each quarter. •Abide by MFT@Northwestern policies and procedures. •Assume primary responsibility for the clinical training of students assigned to them, specifically related to Integrative Systemic Therapy. •Consult with Site Supervisor, who has primary responsibility related to clinical, legal and ethical responsibility for students and the clients at their sites. •Support the students in their acquisition of learning in alignment with MFT Student Learning Outcomes. •Evaluate student's clinical work with clients and their development as Marriage and Family Therapists. •Support students in their development of self-of-the-therapist •Effectively facilitate group process in supervision group. •Attend supervisor's meetings as well as other special trainings and meetings. •Compete a yearly evaluation of program leadership and resources OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participate in remediation/retention efforts as needed 2. Maintain AAMFT Approved Supervisor status and any related CEU requirements 3. Inform the program in writing if their license or Approved Supervisor status is revoked or expires 4. Promote MFT Identity RequirementsSummary of Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills: 1. Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) identity as evidenced by professional affiliations, publications, and licensure; or related field of mental health services 2. Evidence of ability to supervise within the discipline of MFT 3. Commitment to learning about integrative systemic therapy 4. Cultural competence and strong interest in diversity 5. Excellent organizational skills 6. Creativity, innovation, and ability to work independently and within a team 7. Ability to adapt to new and rapidly changing situations 8. Strong time management and problem-solving skills 9. Ability to successfully resolve issues from identification through resolution 10. Ability to work with multiple databases and student platforms 11. Skilled at connecting and building rapport with students, sites, individual supervisors, and faculty Course Lead 12. Excellent interpersonal skills 13. Excellent oral and written communication skills 14. Reliable and consistent access to high-speed internet and computer Minimum Hiring Specifications: 1. Advanced degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or related discipline (PhD in MFT or Masters in MFT with extensive clinical experience preferred) 2. Two or more years of experience clinically supervising graduate-level students. 3. Experience with systemic clinical practice 4. Active clinical licensure in home state 5. AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Candidate 6.
