Position Type: Contract/Hourly Employment/Extracurricular Assignment - Professional PersonnelDate Posted: 9/26/2024Location: Jane Lew Elementary SchoolDate Available: 01/15/2025Closing Date: 12/18/2024County: Lewis County SchoolsPOSTING NUMBER: 643 ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EXTRACURRICULAR VACANCY POSITION: Beginning Teacher Mentor - 1st grade LOCATION: Jane Lew Elementary School CERTIFICATION: Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience 2. Satisfactory evaluations for the past five (5) years RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Prepare and deliver an orientation program for the beginning intern to be conducted prior to the beginning of the instructional term, but within the employment term (unless beginning intern is hired after the beginning of the instructional term)
Observe the classroom teaching skills of the beginning intern for at least one-hour per week during the first half of the mentoring program and which may be reduced at the discretion of the mentor to one-hour every two-weeks during the second half of the mentoring program Conduct weekly meetings with the beginning intern to discuss the performance of the beginning intern and any improvements.
