SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Shift supervisor, the janitor will be working in the Federal Building in Richland, WA providing prescriptive cleaning. The janitor will work independently at times and with a crew to assure all cleaning tasks for assigned areas are completed according tostandards set by the Federal Building Program Manager.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsibilities include restroom cleaning, trash pick-up, office and exam room cleaning, kitchen cleaning, window cleaning, dust mopping and mopping, dusting furniture and vacuuming. Other duties will also be assign in other areas of the Federal Building which could include checking restroom supplies, turning off lights, cleaning elevators, folding laundry and compacting trash.
  • Assist with ensuring that all trash and grounds outside of the Federal Building maintained as needed.
  • Ensure safety and that cones are placed out when floors are wet and picked up immediately when dry.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Follow all safety standards.
  • Communicates effectively with other Columbia Ability Alliance staff and clientele.

  • None
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • To be selected for employment at the Federal Building, you must pass a background check. A person must obey and follow all security rules. An employee of Columbia Ability Alliance must always wear a uniform and badge to work. An employee will be well groomed and be always professional. If you are ill, you are required to call your supervisor at least two hours early before your shift starts. If an emergency arises you are to contact your supervisor immediately so that you can be excused from work.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Speak, read and write English.
REASONING ABILITY AND OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Able to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to use pallet jack and dolly to transport supplies from the loading dock into the building. Use a vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, and clean restrooms. In the winter must be able to lift 50+ pound bags of icy melt. Sit, stand, and squat throughout the day.
  • Wet or humid conditions under 1/3 of the time, occasional excessive heat, work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, work around moderate to loud noise, exposure to blood-borne pathogens, occasional exposure to laundry chemicals, occasional use of face mask, safety glasses, and impermeable gloves.
