GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONTake 911calls, emergency and non-emergency calls to provide help to the public. Ensure appropriate resources are sent the correct way to each patient. Train new Dispatchers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Take 911 calls. This duty is performed daily, about 80% of the time.2. Dispatch ambulances/Fire Departments. This duty is performed daily, about 80% of the time.3. Post ambulances accordingly. This duty is performed daily, about 75% of the time.4. Update information in CAD. This duty is performed daily, about 80% of the time.5. Take non-emergency transfers. This duty is performed daily, about 70% of the time.6. Notify appropriate supervisors of long distance transfers. This duty is performed daily, about 25% of the time.7. Notify DEM and officers of large events. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.8. Work with surrounding agencies. This duty is performed daily, about 90% of the time.9. Compile training materials for updates and new hires. This duty is performed monthly, about 15% ofthe time.10. Keep track of payroll, checking staff in and out. This duty is performed daily, about 50% of the time.11. Assist Captains with staffing issues. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.12. Keep track of unit locations. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.13. Clean Dispatch daily. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.14. Organize all paperwork for billing. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.15. Assist billing office with phone calls and facilities. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of thetime.16. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentionedsatisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilityrequired.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEKnowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc.Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specializedtraining, equal to two years of college, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training.
