Job Title: Districtwide Paraprofessional Qualifications:
  • Completed at least 2 years of study ( 48 semester hours of credit) at a regionally accredited institution of higher education; or
  • Obtained an associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; or
  • Met a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a formal State academic assessment.
  • Reports To: Principal Goal: To assist school personnel in providing an appropriate education/training program for students with disabilities Performance Responsibilities:
    • Comprehend and carry out instructions assigned by supervising teacher(s).
    • Reinforce skills being taught in classroom.
    • Work with individuals and groups of students with disabilities as assigned by supervising teacher.
    • Keep accurate and current records of student performance and accomplishments in academic and developmental activities.
    • Perform clerical tasks as assigned, such as filing, typing, checking library books, operating audio-visual equipment, ordering supplies, and caring for equipment and materials.
    • Inventory supplies and equipment, recording needs and condition of existing items.
    • Assist in preparing instructional materials, games, etc.
    • Assist teacher with basic physical management needs of students, including, but not limited to:
    • a. toileting
    • b. diaper or clothing change
    • c. personal hygiene, including baths
    • d. movement in wheelchairs or lifts, such as transporting from one area to another
    • e. required physical manipulation, as recommended by physician, physical therapist or occupational therapist
    • f. adjustments to and care of equipment
    • g. transportation of students to and from class
    • h. feeding
    • i. recreational activities
    • j. others as specified by teacher or principal
    9. Maintain confidentiality of records. 10. Assist with housekeeping as required to provide an acceptable environment for students with disabilities. 11. Perform other related duties as assigned. Terms of Employment: Nine month school year per Board approved calendar. Salary and terms of employment to be established by the City of Leeds Board of Education.
