St. James Parish Government is hiring Litter Abatement Staff under the Operations Department. JOBFUNCTION: To provide physicaleffort to accomplish a variety of semi-skilled tasks and is considered anintroductory level of employment. It is classified as essential during declaredemergencies or natural disasters and is a nonexempt position at forty hours perweek. This position is SafetySensitive and subject to random drug testing as per the St. James ParishGovernment Employee Handbook. Individuals in this class are able to complete the majority of theirprojects/assignments with a minimum amount of supervision.ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes anycombination of the following illustrative examples of duties andresponsibilities including but not limited to:- Pickingup trash and litter along all major roads and subdivisions in the Parish- Pickingup trash and litter on all parish owned property- Transportingtrash and litter to local landfill sites.- Otherduties as assignedSUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES: NoneQUALIFICATIONREQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, anindividual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATIONAND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general educationdiploma (GED).MATHEMATICALSKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measurement using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals.REASONINGABILITY: Ability to define common sense understandingto carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involvingseveral concrete variables in standardized situations.CERTIFICATES,LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: Class E Louisiana Drivers License.OTHERSKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Abilityto work with minimal supervision and enjoy outdoors- Abilityto work as a team player and display a pleasant respectful, and positiveattitude.- Working knowledge of traffic laws and regulations related to a motor vehicle- Abilityto perform physical labor required of the positionPHYSICALDEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must bemet by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilitiesto perform the essential functions.
