Open to the PublicFull-TimePosting 12/4/24-OUFDays and Shifts: 2nd Shift Eligible Employer for Public Student Loan Forgiveness as a U.S. federal, state, local or tribal governmentPosition Summary: Under the supervision of Maintenance Supervisor, complete building maintenance responsibilities on a variety of buildings. Maintain a safe and properly functioning work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform repair of general building finish elements such as drywall, floor tile, carpet, paint, ceiling tile, handrails, formica, molding and cove base.
  • Perform work such as building partitions, countertops, floor replacement, and trim; assemble office equipment; fix furniture and paint.
  • Perform basic roof repair and basic maintenance on heating and HVAC units.
  • Make basic plumbing repairs such as flush valves, fixture replacement, drain plunging, snaking, gasket replacement, leveling, tightening fixtures and faucet repairs
  • Perform electrical repairs such as light replacement, cord repairs, receptacle and switch replacement.
  • Provide maintenance services to hotel guests and hotel rooms for repairs on televisions, guest safes, room furniture, curtains, HARC systems and audiovisual systems.
  • Operate and complete requests for signage utilizing the sign machine.
  • Maintain supply levels by notifying supervisor when reorder levels are reached.
  • Replace or repair locks and hardware and small appliances.
  • Repair chairs and upholstery.
  • Complete basic repairs to doors, windows, locks, cabinetry and furniture.
  • Assist grounds keeping when requested for snow removal, outdoor biohazard cleanup and patron assistance with vehicle issues.
  • Notify management concerning needs of major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, ventilating and equipment.
  • Maintain logs and records of work performed and materials and equipment used.
  • Set up and tear down equipment for events and special activities.
  • Assist testing agencies on fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Maintain inventory supply levels by notifying supervisor when reorder levels are reached.
  • Operate and perform cleaning of outdoor areas utilizing power scrubbers, sweepers and power washers.
  • Perform housekeeping and grounds work when needed.
  • Abide by all safety regulations.
  • Maintain and repair all equipment and tools.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:
  • Contact with staff and requesting departments about problems with the building and equipment.
  • Contact with all Facility divisions as needed to schedule work or reassign work to higher skilled positions.
  • Contact daily with Maintenance Supervisor to discuss assigned work, related solutions and what other additional resources may be needed to complete repairs.
  • Contact with guests while completing guest assistance job requests and completing repairs in occupied guest rooms.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One year of experience in a building maintenance, technical, manufacturing or similar position.
  • Must possess good diagnostic skills.
  • Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver`s License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. A Tribal Driver`s License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.
  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of use of maintenance tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
  • Knowledge of the methods and practices used in preventive maintenance and repair work.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
  • Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
  • Skill in the safe operation of power tools and shop equipment.
  • Skill in diagnosing and repair of equipment utilized.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with repair equipment.
  • Strenuous physical exertion in climbing ladders and lifting heavy objects.
  • Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and reach with arms and hands.
  • Occasionally sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • Indoors and outside.
  • Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials
  • Work may be performed in wet, damp and cramped or close work area.
  • Exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials and moving parts may occur.
  • Situations where safety equipment is needed may occur.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  • Evening, overnight, holiday and/or weekend work may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.
