The Fabrication Engineering Group provides rapid fabrication, assembly, integration, and test of advanced hardware prototypes for national security applications. Examples include the precision machining of fiber mounts for airborne high energy laser systems, multi-functional structures using additive processes for ground-based radar systems, custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) for space-borne data processing, and highly integrated mechanical packaging for undersea communication terminals.
Description:
-This candidate is doing a combination of planner type function (production control) and data analysis/data visualization. This person comes out of a manufacturing type environment and is analyzing data produced throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. Preference is for a candidate with the manufacturing/planning/production experience with some data visualization vs a candidate who is heavy on the data side and has none of the planning/manufacturing experience.
The Fabrication Engineering Group seeks a talented, creative, and motivated individual to strengthen the Group's ability to provide rapid and innovative solutions to challenging problems. The successful candidate will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including program team members, shop area leads, and the planning team to develop and manage a system and supporting tools that effectively estimate cost and schedule for prototype assemblies in the fabrication shops. A unique aspect of client is that we develop prototype systems rather than high volume production. The role of the Planning and Production Data Specialist will focus on providing effective tools to support execution in a job shop environment. The ideal candidate will partner with the program planning team to continuously improve fabrication schedule alignment to program needs as well as optimizing utilization of resources and ensuring a transparent approach to financial impacts.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Utilize scheduling tools to provide capacity analysis and availability of shop resources to group and programs
• Analyze data to provide cost allocation results and estimates to complete
• Collaborate with digital engineering contacts to inform development of cost and scheduling dashboards that can be utilized within the fabrication group and by program partners
• Coordinate with multi-faceted cross-functional team and program contacts to align execution plan to program needs
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and manage projects related to Fabrication area resources and materials
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or at least five years of relevant experience
• Experience with manufacturing operations or supply chain management
• Experience with data visualization software applications, such as Power BI
• Recognized self-motivator that seeks to continuously learn and be challenged
• Ability to multi-task and drive issues to closure
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
