Essential Job Functions Key Responsibilities:
  • Scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, washes windows, woodwork, toilets, restrooms and fixtures.
  • Maintains stock levels as required and maintains routine records.
  • Vacuum and Shampoos carpets.
  • Replaces burned out light bulbs.
  • Empties wastebaskets for disposal in dumpster.
  • Cleans up areas around buildings.
  • Performs related work as requested or assigned.
  • Hours include evenings and as needed overtime possible.
  • Knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment typically used in janitorial work.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and fellow employees. Basic computer skills related to email and data entry.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Constant walking and standing, reaching above shoulders, kneeling, bending, squatting and use of both hands and feet. Frequent bending and stooping.
  • Frequent heavy lifting (up to 75lbs).
  • Frequent light carrying (30lbs or less).
  • Good balance, eye/hand coordination, near/far vision and good hearing.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS:
  • Constant work inside and outside of facilities in a standing, stooping or bending posture. Some areas of the facilities have high dust levels which may cause allergic reactions.
  • Possibility of reactions to certain types of cleaners used in the course of janitorial work.
  • Rubber gloves, eye protection, face mask, rubber sole work shoes with good gripping soles. Auto safety belt.

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a state GED preferred.
  • At least one year janitorial work, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting. A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Ability to pass through background check.
  • A valid Florida driver's license is required with a good driving record.
