Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Distribution Manager to oversee the efficient delivery of subscription products, manage distribution routes, and actively drive subscription growth for four newspapers – Nevada Appeal, Record-Courier, Lahontan Valley News and Northern Nevada Business Weekly. The ideal candidate lives in Northern Nevada and will not only have strong experience in logistics, routing, and delivery model optimization, but also a passion for growing and retaining a subscriber base through innovative strategies and exceptional service.

Pay based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subscription Management & Growth: Oversee and manage the entire subscription lifecycle, including activations, renewals, cancellations, and support. Develop and implement strategies to drive new subscription growth and increase retention rates.
  • Customer Service & Support: Ensure that customer inquiries and issues related to subscriptions and deliveries are handled promptly. Lead efforts to improve overall customer satisfaction with the subscription and delivery process.
  • Distribution Operations: Coordinate with internal teams and external partners, including contracted carriers (15 to 18), delivery vendor and a printing vendor to manage the end-to-end distribution process. Monitor twice weekly delivery operations to ensure high-quality service levels and address any issues with carrier performance or routing. Two newspapers are home delivery, and two newspapers are mailed through USPS. Knowledge of USPS is a plus.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate regular reports on subscription growth, delivery performance, route efficiency, and costs. Use data to identify trends, opportunities for growth, and areas for improvement.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and develop the delivery and customer service team (2-3 employees), including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations. Recruit for newspaper carriers as extra support is needed on certain routes throughout the year.
  • Route Planning & Optimization: Develop and manage efficient delivery routes. Analyze delivery patterns and optimize routing models for cost-effective and timely distribution. Explore and integrate new technologies and methods for improving distribution.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to create promotional strategies, loyalty programs, and campaigns that will attract and retain subscribers. Identify and implement new channels for subscription acquisition.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in subscriptions, distribution, or delivery management with a proven track record of growing subscriptions.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with route optimization software and tools.
  • Ability to analyze data and drive decisions based on performance metrics.
  • Strong communication, people management and leadership skills.
  • Experience with subscription platforms and distribution technology solutions is a plus.
