OVERALL OBJECTIVE: Oversees and directs staff on program controls processes and systems to provide greater efficiencies and accuracy in reporting and scheduling. Interfaces directly with client for planning and scheduling activities.JOB COMPLEXITY/SCOPE: Responsible for the reporting of schedule data and collecting required inputs to draft informed baseline schedule.SUPERVISION: Independently performs most conventional technical functions. May provide technical direction to a small group of professionals and/or support personnel. FLSA STATUS: ExemptJOB DUTIES: Develop, monitor and update integrated project schedules to allow projects to be executed in the most efficient manner possible. Prepare baseline schedules and schedule basis documents for approval by project teams. Cost and resource load schedules as required. Assess impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities and report to the project team. Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing alternate methods for corrective action. Validate the accuracy of earned value management system reporting. Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts, and variance schedule analysis. Maintain record of scope changes, trends, and variances that potentially affect schedule performance. Assure credibility of the information contained in the schedule. Review schedules with project team members regularly to ensure that accurate and timely data is incorporated in the schedule. Lead all communication related to the project schedule including schedule reporting, obtaining schedule updates from vendors, review and analysis of vendor schedule submissions, collection of update information from project stakeholders. Provide reporting and analysis related to time extension claims Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths. Evaluate activity sequences for constructability. Make recommendations to manage float and (re)sequence activities (if required) to achieve project milestone dates and interim target completion dates. Analyze change orders for schedule impacts. Perform job-site walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities. Lead project scheduling meetings and/or interactive planning meetings as required by the project team. Participate in departmental staff meetings. Develop departmental scheduling practices and procedures. At the completion of the project, develop and record the project's historical schedule information and lessons learned for future use.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Requires 1-4 years of construction management, estimating, project controls, engineering or equivalent work experience or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or related experience. Required experience and expertise in schedule analysis and development, including milestone management, baseline management, critical path method (CPM), time contingencies, schedule crashing, and quality assurance (QA), is essential. Experience in the electrical utility industry, particularly in Transmission Projects, is preferred. Demonstrated ability to synthesize project related information and create a schedule from scratch Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications Proficient in the use of Primavera P6 and MS Project required Proficient in the use of all Office 365 applicationsREQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Flexibility and Adaptability Adjusts to new or changing assignments, processes, and people. Uses organization's guidelines for writing reports, correspondence, documentation, etc. Welcomes and uses feedback/editing assistance.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Job duties in an office setting require the following: Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the office; The ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; Good hand-eye coordination; the ability to reach with hands and arms; and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp; Close visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate office equipment, prepare and review data and figures, and view a computer monitor; The ability to talk and hear; The ability to work in an upper level of a high-rise office building (Cotter Chicago office and some client offices); The ability to handle temperature changes consistent with inside environmental conditions; and Mental abilities including remembering, reasoning, concentrating to remain on task, reading, problem solving, managing concurrent tasks, and the ability to understand and follow directions.For job duties that require visiting a construction work site, the following is required: Normal color vision; The ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms; The ability to move across uneven surfaces and the ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling on uneven or slippery surfaces; The ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch; The ability to stand for sustained periods of time; The ability to work in confined spaces and narrow passageways; The ability to work in high places; and The ability to handle outside environmental conditions including extreme heat, extreme cold, loud noise levels, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, and oils.
