Creates a sanitary, safe environment and enhances the appearance of the facility.
Cleans patient rooms and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens and sanitizing all surfaces.
Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation.
Stocks paper items and other supplies in patient rooms as necessary or designated.
Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition and stores in appropriate storage area when finished with shift.
Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.
Performs routine cleaning functions in assigned areas following established work schedules and using prescribed methods.
Dusts and wet mops floors and vacuums carpet.
Cleans and sanitizes furniture, equipment, window sills and inside windows, and polish furniture and fixtures as required.
Empty waste baskets and clean and sanitize when necessary.
Arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion and reports any equipment or furniture out of order to supervisor.
Maintains appropriate logs and records.
Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition. Returns unused or unsoiled supplies to appropriate areas at the end of the day. Keeps carts neat and orderly at all times.
Assists in the cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request.
Checks bedside curtains and window shades and replaces when dirty or torn.
Cleans and sanitizes bathtubs, sinks, mirrors and similar equipment.
Washes urinals and toilets using prescribed procedures.
Replenishes soap, paper towels, and tissues and stocks supplies.
Polishes brass, cleans and polishes glass panels in doors and partitions.
Washes walls.
Wipes curtain rods with a damp cloth, remove soiled window curtains and hang clean curtains.
Dusts and damp wipes outside of vent covers and light fixtures.
Gathers, disposes, recycles, as dictated, all rubbish, general waste and medical waste following prescribed procedures for handling and disposal of same.
Responsible for high dusting.
Assists with orientation of new employees and staff development activities for the department.
Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.
Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Completes annual educational requirements.

Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Michigan Driver's License
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience Demonstrated ability to follow specific instructions. Demonstrated ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on continuous basis required. Preferred: Previous housekeeping experience.
