Job Description :
**This is a part-time position, tentatively scheduled for Monday-Wednesday weekly, approximately 24 hours/week. This is a benefit eligible position. The incumbent will work with a general surgeon only.Position General Summary:This position is an Essential position at the facility to ensure efficient operations and patient care. Employees hired into an Essential position are expected to report to work for their scheduled shifts regardless of the environmental weather and road conditions that may exist.Position Duties and Responsibilities:The LPN assists the physician or mid-level provider with direct patient care and is able to work without close supervision and exercise some independent judgment. The LPN is able to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own work flow. Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Collects current symptoms and patient history and documents in the EMR.
  • Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Participates in controlled substance counts as needed according to policy and state law.
  • Works directly under providers, assisting them during exams, diagnostic testing, and treatments
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with clinical providers, clients, and community agencies.
Facility General Responsibilities:
  • Attend facility new hire orientation as scheduled by HR
  • Complete Department Orientation Initial Competency within 7 days of hire date
  • Complete Department Initial Skills Competency within 90 days of hire date
  • Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures
  • Respect cultural and religious practices of patients from all backgrounds
  • Follow HIPAA regulations at all times
  • Be punctual and dependent for assigned shifts
  • Dress within the dress code requirements of the facility
  • Identifies all patients using at least two identifiers verbally (name and DOB), and by checking ID bracelet
  • Follows Hospital Wide and Department Specific policies and procedures
  • Must interact with physicians, guest, staff, and patients pleasantly, cooperatively, and effectively
  • Must be able to pass drug screens, both pre-employment and throughout duration of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of nursing practice and nationally accepted standards of patient care.
  • Good Communication skills with ability to communicate appropriately with all age groups
  • Ability to perform under stress and cope with difficult situations
  • Good time management and organizational skills to complete patient care and documentation each shift
Position Requirements: Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Certifications:
  • Must be a graduate of a Licensed Practice Nurse program and have a current LPN license.
  • Must have current BLS certification.
  • At least one year of experience in a clinic or medical environment desired.
Working Conditions:The LPN may spend a considerable amount of time walking, bending, stretching, standing, and assisting patients. Therefore, they must follow proper body mechanics to guard against injury. The LPN must be able to work accurately around frequent interruptions. In addition, the LPN must be able to see with corrective eyewear and must be able to hear clearly with assistance. The LPN may be exposed to infections and contagious diseases and may be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
