Department: Student Success Centers Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: SUMMARY Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program built around peer-led group student study/review sessions. It is a nontraditional form of tutoring that focuses on assisting students in undertaking traditionally difficult courses. The Supplemental Instruction Leader is a student who has demonstrated competence in the targeted courses and can facilitate the SI program study sessions after mandatory training. Targeted courses are Elementary Spanish, Enhanced Quantitative Literacy, Quantitative Literacy, General Psychology, and other Science and Mathematics courses. TYPICAL FUNCTIONS SI Leaders will be responsible for the following duties: • Attend scheduled training and meetings with the SI Leader Supervisor • Prepare and submit session lesson plans and data to the SI Supervisor • Attend the assigned targeted class to observe curriculum (will use the information for creating session plans) • Conduct organized sessions with students • Communicate with staff, students, and fellow SI leaders for program feedback Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS Applicants must possess the following skills and abilities:
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to communicate with faculty, staff, and students professionally.
  • A schedule that allows them to be available for sessions and completing other program requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS All applicants must: 1) The student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior 2) The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale 3) A grade of a B or better in one of the targeted courses. 4) Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
