They are looking for a dynamic Tax Director to join their Tax team in Atlanta. This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the most respected public accounting firms in the country. Their industry niches include manufacturing/distribution, real estate, construction, technology, transportation, private equity, financial services, staffing, and professional service firms.

This role will be working with High Net Worth clients.

Tax Directors are responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Performing technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations at all levels of complexity.
  • Ensuring all federal and state income tax returns are prepared timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Delegating and managing tax research projects to achieve an accurate and efficient product.
  • Participating actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Business Assurance Department with larger clients.
  • Acting as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and Business Assurance Staff on specific tax issues and/or questions.
  • Assuming client service responsibility for clients working directly with the clients when the responsibility is delegated from the Partner.
  • Communicating to the appropriate firm personnel important tax and tax developments affecting the firm's clients.
  • Supervising the tax team and providing on-the-job training.
  • Assisting the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with larger clients when deemed necessary.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Current CPA license is required.
  • 8 years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating proven progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research.
  • At least 2 years representing clients before taxing authorities.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent accounting hours required. Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
  • Minimum 40 hours of continuing education is required yearly.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
  • Proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or other tax automation/workflow software is preferred.
  • Client service oriented.
  • Team player.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Independent.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
