My client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join their dynamic team. This is a leading commercial design/build general contractor. The APM will support the project management team in planning, coordinating, and overseeing various commercial construction projects from inception to completion. Assistant Project Manager Qualifications

  • 1-6 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on commercial construction (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of contract administration, construction scheduling, and project budgeting.
  • Familiarity with cost estimating and change order processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Assistant Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Project Support: Assist the Project Manager (PM) in all phases of project development, from pre-construction to final closeout.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and organize project files, including contracts, drawings, change orders, submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and meeting minutes.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Help develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all tasks. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and team members to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Budget Tracking: Assist in managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring projects stay within financial targets. Prepare cost estimates and assist in pricing change orders.
  • Quality Control & Safety: Ensure that construction activities meet quality standards, adhere to safety regulations, and comply with project specifications.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders. Attend and document meetings, providing regular project updates.
  • Permit & Compliance Management: Support the project team in ensuring that all necessary permits and approvals are obtained and that the project adheres to all local building codes and regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or obstacles that may arise during the construction process, working closely with the PM and other team members to keep the project on track.
  • Site Visits: Regularly visit construction sites to monitor progress, ensure safety protocols are followed, and support the PM in overseeing day-to-day activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the project team, including superintendents, engineers, and estimators, to ensure a smooth project workflow.
