Position Title: Machinist

Reports to: Shop Supervisor

Department: Valve & Mechanical Services

Location: Macon, Georgia

Job Summary:

To work hand in hand with our service operations team, executing machining methods to assist in valve and mechanical repair engagements. Must understand materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Makes all set-ups on tooling and machine.
  • Able to run all machines in the shop efficiently.
  • Machines parts one at a time, but with production techniques.
  • Machines from prints and can make from samples.
  • Able to machine from bar stock and raw castings.
  • Re-machine parts to repair them and still maintain critical dimensions. 4 Jaw Chuck knowledge needed.
  • Maintains excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Participates in Safety, Quality and Activities Committees (if applicable).
  • Final inspection and completion of inspection report.
  • Signing and documenting date compliance sheets.
  • Adherence to all safety, quality, company rules and regulations.

Travel:

  • Overnight travel required.
  • Must be willing to work on site at customer facilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift objects weighing up to 44lbs.
  • Turning and twisting while lifting or moving.
  • Navigate/climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding at client and customer sites. Often times at least 10- 30 feet in the air and sometimes higher.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with valves, machining, welding or fabricating
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer relations skills are a must

Preferred Education & Skills:

  • Experience in the process control industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of analyzing, evaluating, diagnosing, and resolving equipment and process related problems is strongly preferred.
