Job Description: Provides direct and indirect assistance in the installation, construction, maintenance and service of the University's electrical systems.
JOB DUTIES- Assists with Master level installation, maintenance and service of the electrical systems on the University's property.
- Installs, inspects, texts, maintains and repairs a wide variety of electrical circuits, motors, generators, fans, Electrical Circuit Tracers (ECT).
- Runs and installs conduits, pulls wires and installs circuits for electrically driven units.
- Performs electrical work relating to air conditioning and/or refrigeration equipment.
- Makes reports and assists in preparing job-cost estimates.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES - Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
- Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE Required:
- Three years of skilled journeyman level commercial/ industrial electrical experience and training leading to the successful award of the required Electrician Journeyman license.
Preferred:
- Five years of experience.
- Electrician Journeyman license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Required:
- Knowledge of the NEC.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
- Basic knowledge of the electrical components of both traction and hydraulic elevators.
- Ability to work off of elevated platforms, sometimes at heights in excess of 80'.
- Understands the basic electrical grid system of the University's electrical provider (CPS).
- Understands and complies with all safety and risk issues associated with working with live electrical circuitry.
- Understands the basic design of fire alarm systems and has the ability to troubleshoot and repair such systems.
- Familiar with automatic Direct Digital Control systems related to air conditioning and lighting monitoring.
- Knowledge of high voltage switching and safety.
Preferred:
- May work under pressure to meet deadlines.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Required:
- A currently active Journeyman Electrician License.
- Ability to qualify for certification to operate high lift, telescoping equipment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS- All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).
- Must be willing to be placed on a rotating After Hour Call Out list to respond to electrical failures and emergencies.
