Full job descriptionOverviewThe Vermont Department of Health is looking for an organized, conscientious and detail-oriented team player to join the bustling Vital Records Office. This in-office position in Waterbury involves administrative and technical work such as processing online and paper applications for certified copies of birth, death and marriage certificates, responding to inquiries from the public, town clerks, funeral directors and hospital staff via phone, email and letters, establishing accounts for new users of the Department's birth, death and issuance management systems and maintaining user contact information, processing court ordered amendments to birth, death and marriage certificates, follow up with providers for missing information and data entry of vital events into varying software applications. The ideal applicant has excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and is committed to maintaining accurate and complete records.This position is full-time and based in the Waterbury State Office Complex, Monday through Friday.Who May ApplyThis position, Program Technician II (Job Requisition #51421), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.Minimum QualificationsTwo years or more of full-time college coursework OR an associate's degree or higher AND two (2) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration (such as administering components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).ORHigh School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration (such as administering components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).OROne (1) year or more of experience as a Program Technician I with the State of Vermont.Preferred QualificationsExperienced user of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
