The Field Engineer I is responsible for collecting and collating field data required to facilitate OSP designs. This position works on-site, analyzing real-world conditions, enhancing efficiency, and customer service. They will assist our organization in increasing client satisfaction, improving efficiency, managing risk, diagnosing problems, and complying with laws and regulations. The Field Engineer I possesses excellent technical and communication skills and pays meticulous attention to detail. The exceptional field engineer diagnoses and resolves problems, improves efficiency, mitigates risk, encourages business growth, and enhances and sustains relations with clients.If not local to Michigan or able to relocate to Michigan, must be willing to travel and do a rotation schedule (3 weeks in the field and 1 week home)Duties & ResponsibilitiesConduct field and site visits relevant to project information, including exact measurements of existing equipment, site details, digital images, etc., which will then be coordinated with the OSP Engineer for further design.Read and interpret client network records and drawings to inform and enable field activities such as measurements, image collection, etc.Collect pertinent information to apply for permits and easements as required by applicable regulatory agencies.Perform inspections during and after construction to ensure compliance with original designs and customer specifications.Coordinate with the Field Engineering Team Lead to ensure priority schedule is followed.Conduct research to diagnose and develop network solutions.Maintain equipment and infrastructure and installation of new technology.Analyze and communicate field conditions to project management and engineering team.Generate reports and maintain records of fiber splicing and topography.Perform construction and maintenance of OSP infrastructure according to industry standards.Inspect and maintain safety, security, and integrity of OSP facility and network.Monitor and control expenses within allotted budget.Perform route analysis and develop aerial and underground fiber route maps.Perform fiber verification and mapping activities.Obtain state and local permits as required to execute OSP projects.Assist with OSP design creation as needed.All other projects or duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh school education or equivalent; Degree in engineering.Telecommunications experience.Field Engineering experience.Utility pole data collection experience.ERSI and Arc Pro and GIS experience.Aptitude for acquiring and retaining technical knowledge.Computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite required.Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.Ability to think critically and analytically.Self-motivated with strong work ethic and integrity.Flexibility to work different shifts and ability to travel.Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment while ensuring a strong attention to detail; results-focused.Valid driver's license.Physical RequirementsMust be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for extended periods of time.Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting, standing, and handling materials up to 75lbs.Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.Applicants must submit to a Driver's License review, drug test & criminal background check.#J-18808-Ljbffr
