INTERNAL UNION APPLICANTS WILL BE GIVEN FIRST CONSIDERATION FOR UNION POSITIONSUnder general supervision of a higher classified employee, this position will aid in the planning, design, implementation, documenting, and maintenance of the County's cybersecurity systems, standards, policies, and procedures to protect the County's computer network from cyber-attacks. Provide both technical and partner relationship mentoring to team members. Follow and promote best practices for cybersecurity solutions and all support processes including project management, monitoring, incident response, cybersecurity audits, and cybersecurity awareness training.EXAMPLES OF DUTIESMonitor computer networks and log data for cybersecurity issues.Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents.Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls and data encryption.Document security breaches and assess the damage they cause.Work with the security team to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities.Detect, prioritize and mitigate cybersecurity vulnerabilities to maintain a high security standard.Stay current on IT security trends and news.Assist in developing and implementing county-wide best practices for cybersecurity.Perform penetration testing, phishing simulations, and other cyber audits and assessments as required.Research security enhancements and make improvement recommendations to management.Stay up to date on information technology trends and cybersecurity standards.Membership and active participation with cybersecurity industry groups including MS-ISAC / EI-ISAC (CIS), Michigan Cyber Partners, and MI-GMIS.Aid in running endpoint Detection and Response platform updates for the organization's computer assets (PCs, laptops, servers), and resolve any virus-related issues that occur.Review and approve requests for user-ids, user directories, and user file access rights based on the organization's Information Security Policy.Assist in defining and enforcing policies, procedures, and standards regarding LAN, WAN, security, and use of the organization's computer and information assets.Assist in soliciting quotes for cybersecurity technology and services. Prepare bid documents, evaluate bids, and recommend contract award.Follow the change management system for planning, coordinating, and monitoring changes to cybersecurity technology, policies, and procedures to ensure that changes are made with minimum disruption to service levels. Responsible for managing all cybersecurity change activities.Assist in the development and delivery of the County's Cybersecurity Awareness Program.Coordinates with departmental staff on cyber security related activities such as mitigation of potential cyber threats, recovery of cyber incidents, and disaster recovery efforts.Performs other duties as assigned.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned this classification.
