If you're a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker, come join us in positively impacting the lives of millions of people world-wide for a better future.BACKGROUND: The Adult Education Department provides in-person and remote ESL classes to adults 18 and older, facilitates cultural orientation for resettlement clients, coordinates with other IRC departments to facilitate workforce development workshops, and refers clients internally and externally to additional services identified during case management. In addition, the Adult Education Department provides support to clients through special projects such as the Afghan Women's Group.SCOPE OF WORK: The Administrative Intern will assist the Adult Education Supervisor and the Cultural Orientation and Intake Specialist in supporting administrative and organizational tasks for Adult ESOL classes. The intern will work closely with the Adult ESL Instructor to manage data entry and administrative reports.RESPONSIBILITIES:Keep track of client communication and follow-up on attendance.Maintain timely and organized physical and virtual student files.Attend weekly supervision meetings with supervisor.Support during ESL open houses.Assist in the development of outreach materials and conducting outreach phone calls for classes, Workforce Development Workshops, and English class orientations.Compile data, perform data entry, and assemble information for comprehensive reports in internal databases, Microsoft spreadsheets, and ASISTS.LEARNING OBJECTIVES:Gain hands-on experience working in Administration for Adult Education Programs.Learn about data tracking and reporting to funders.Build communication and outreach skills with different stakeholders within the IRC office.REQUIREMENTS:Comfort working with refugees and immigrants from a variety of backgrounds, including those with limited formal education and/or literacy skills.Ability to adapt to changing situations, comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment.Responsible, flexible, and dedicated.Reliable: will commit to term listed above.Excellent organizational skills.Strong attention to detail.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Proficient in MS Office suite (especially Excel).Proficient in Canva.Bilingual speaking abilities is a plus (Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Russian, Pashto, Dari, or Farsi).Standard of Professional Conduct: The IRC and the IRC workers must adhere to the values and principles outlined in the IRC Way - our Code of Conduct.
