The Design Manager will oversee a group of designers and collaborate with both internal departments and external consulting firms in a fast paced, demanding environment. The Design Manager will be responsible for managing a prototype, ensuring work aligns with strategic goals. This position will need to provide clear, detailed instruction to the team, balancing workload effectively while fostering a collaborative and innovative atmosphere. Strong leadership skills, the ability to adapt quickly, and a track record of delivering high quality results under tight deadlines are key for success in this role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSProvide assistance to the design teamReview and understand construction documents, especially civil and site related informationInput budgets and timeframes for projects, and help keep the team on track to meet thosedeadlines and goalsManage prototype updates based on consistent field issues that come up, or to maintain codecompliance.Coordinate and communicate with outside consultants and other development personnel.Contact jurisdictions to help push projects through the permitting processManage designer and consulting team workloads to maintain equal distribution. Hire additionaloutside consulting teams as needed.Review and approve invoices up to specified amount, and make sure budgets are updated on aregular cadence to reflect unexpected overages or savings.Travel as needed for special projects.Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.Interact with Designers, Architects, Engineers, General Contractors, Project Managers, StoreOperations, Legal, SAC, Expansion Committee, and Maintenance.All other duties as assigned.
