General Summary of Duties: Checks time cards and payroll data to ensure correct payment of employees and processes payroll.
Examples of Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
* Checks time cards for consistency and accuracy, clarifying inconsistencies with supervisors.
* Verifies sick leave, vacation hours, and overtime by comparing authorization forms to time reports.
* Calculates overtime, differential, and other special adjustments and rates for records.
* Calculates tax deductions, benefits, and other deductions for unusual or changed payroll data.
* Enter payroll information into computer program.
* Generates payroll checks and distributes or mails paychecks.
* Helps employees to understand payroll calculations and deductions, investigates problems, and makes appropriate corrections.
* Provides and coordinates banking information for payroll.
* Uses personnel data to prepare W-2 forms.
* Reviews benefit accruals, pension, and other eligibility information, making adjustments as status changes occur.
* Prepares termination checks
* Maintains strictest confidentiality.
* Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Two years of payroll experience. Computer experience. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for two years of payroll experience.
