Job Summary
Set up and preparation of tooling to support the operation of the moulding cell. Tracking and maintenance of tooling. Properly storing and documenting of tooling.
Set up and control the operation of single or multiple wood Moulding Machines to manufacture quality products. Adjust, suggest improvements, and implement changes to the production process. Effective control of the machine, ensuring machine is producing at optimum rates.
Requirements
Understand and adhere to the production, quality, and safety expectations of the job and communicate to general labor support team.
* Set up tooling prior to being needed on the moulder.
* Appropriate storing and documentation of tooling usage.
* Collaborate with Production and the Tooling Coordinator to effectively design tooling for new applications.
* Continuous Improvement of existing tooling which may consist of new designs, updated technology, etc to increase throughput on parts with considerable run sizes.
* Performing appropriate tooling related maintenance and recommendation of when to rework/purchase new tooling
* Primary Trainer on machine operation and tooling.
* Set up, operate, and maintain equipment to according to company and product specifications.
* Read and interpret routing, print documentation, and SOPs to ensure quality standards are met.
* General understanding of moulder tooling and ability to perform setups.
* Ability to use and read calipers, micrometers, and other gauges to assure product specifications are met.
* General understanding of moulding machines and ability to troubleshoot problems and complete root cause analysis.
* Catch and stack parts after performing all necessary operations to the product from the machine.
* Retrieve and prepare necessary raw materials, tools, and supplies for production.
* Ensure materials are utilized efficiently with minimal scrap and waste.
* Assist material handlers with movement of raw, WIP, and finished materials.
* Use ERP system to execute assigned jobs and record/report production data and outcomes.
* Completion of all applicable and assigned documentation per job.
* Ability to learn on the job and train others as needed.
* Basic housekeeping, preventative maintenance, and inspections of the machine and surrounding area.
* Ability to train other operators on moulder operations and tooling knowledge.
Education, Experience
* High school degree or equivalent
* Minimum 2 years previous experience working with industrial machinery producing products in a manufacturing environment. Prior Moulder experience is preferred.
Skills/Competencies
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Cooperative attitude and ability to team problem solve
* Strong math skills including metric measurements, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, conversions and counting
* Strong mechanical aptitude
* Familiarity with reading blueprints and CAD drawings
* Familiarity with ERP and/or MES systems, operating computers and scanning devices
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
* Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day on concrete floors
* Ability to lift 5-50 lbs. repetitively and up to 75 lbs. occasionally
* Must be able to bend, twist, push, pull, crouch, kneel, stoop, and lift 90% of the workday
* Ability to grasp, hold, and turn small screws
* Ability to utilize hand tools and small power tools to install fasteners
* Heated warehouse environment
