Full-Time, 40 Hours/WeekMonday to Friday, 8am - 5pmOnsiteSummary:The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator oversees EHS programs across Akron Children's Hospital (ACH) facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania, based primarily in Akron with occasional travel to other locations. This role focuses on environmental compliance, education, training, and collaboration to ensure safe and efficient program implementation. The overall goal of the EHS Coordinator is to ensure that environmental permitting, applicable reporting, training, and programs are managed and implemented in a safe, effective, and organized manner. Responsibilities:1. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations. 2. Assess construction projects for EHS and OSHA compliance. 3. Conduct risk assessments, audits, and training programs. 4. Assist with employee injury investigation and prevention. 5. Coordinate hazardous waste management and spill response. 6. Assist in implementing Hazard Communication Plan and Emergency Planning and Response. 7. Ensure contractors/vendors comply with waste disposal regulations. 8. Respond promptly to EHS emergencies and coordinate clean-up efforts. 9. Oversee hazardous waste and universal waste programs. 10. Lead spill control and prevention training. 11. Conduct routine audits of waste disposal vendors and facilities. 12. Investigate environmental compliance issues and prepare reports. 13. Review facility expansions/modifications for environmental impacts. 14. Train staff on waste disposal procedures and evaluate new chemicals/products. 15. Oversee Underground Storage Tank Inspection Program. 16. Prepare permit applications and regulatory reports. 17. Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database program. 18. Maintain DOT and RCRA certifications. 19. Provide technical expertise and support to all levels of the organization. 20. Other duties and required. Other information:Technical Expertise1. Proficient in federal, state, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements and technical issues. 2. Experience in healthcare and regulatory bodies (Joint Commission, EPA) preferred. 3. Knowledge of environmental permitting and regulations. 4. Strong communication and organizational skills. 5. Ability to manage workload and prioritize effectively. 6. Proficiency in MS Office suite.Education and Experience1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in environmental science/science discipline, industrial hygiene, chemistry, or related field is required.2. Certification: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required; 7 years preferred.3. Required certifications: DOT and RCRA.4. Preferred certifications: CHMM, CSP. 5. Valid driver's license required.
