Job Summary Under general direction of the Director, Special Programs, performs a variety of liaison activities between the District's homeless or itinerant students, schools and parents to assure that this population receives needed services; identifies itinerant families and provides information regarding District programs, social programs and services; provides training and work direction to Community Advocate; provides oversight for coordination of projects supporting the District's homeless program and population as assigned. The ability to read, write and converse in English and Spanish is preferred. About the vacancy: This is a grant funded position for 2 years with possible extension or sustainability with district funds. Continuation of a grant funded position is dependent upon the availability of funding and/or program needs. Location: Washington Elementary Hours/Day: 8 hours/day Days/Week: 5 days/week Months/Year: 12 months/year *** for details *** Requirements / Qualifications Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent GED. Associate's degree or education beyond an AA degree is preferred. Experience: Three (3) years experienced working with students and parents in an advocate role or two years working as a School Community Assistant or a Community Advocate. Special License, certification or other requirements: -Valid Class C California Driver License and use of private or alternative means of transportation is required -Proof of automobile insurance is required -The ability to read, write and converse in English and Spanish is preferred.
