Self-motivated to follow & learn from higher level maintenance techs. & Director of Facilities. Completing workorders with little supervision. Maintains a comfortable physical environment in those facilities in accordance with policies, procedures, standards, and practices set by the Atchison Hospital, Kansas State Department of Health and Human Resources, Kansas State Fire Marshal, Health Facilities Accreditation Program and other local community and governmental agencies. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.Physical: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS:Supervision Received: Director of Facilities Supervision Exercised: None Other: Patients, families, visitors, other hospital personnel, medical staff, other medical facility personnel, community program personnel, mortuary personnel, EMS personnel, members of the general public EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:To reduce job hazards, this position is responsible for wearing PPE during job functions. PPE can include: gloves, gown/coat, shoe covers, head/face, eye and ear protection. Each job function requires a different level of PPE, individuals receive initial and annual training to identify the appropriate level of PPE requiredConsiderable amount of walking throughout the building, works in noisy, hot and humid areas. Subject to minor injuries, back injuries, infections, communicable diseases and exposure to disagreeable sights, odors, and chemicals.EQUIPMENT USED:General mechanical tools such as hand tools, power tools, test equipment, ladders, mower, weed eater, leaf blower, etc.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Working knowledge of procedures, techniques, materials and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and associated systems.
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and accident prevention when working with mechanical equipment
  • Promptly responds to work orders and notifies departments once complete
  • Maintains the prevention maintenance program records
  • Reads prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams and follows directions.
  • Adheres to preventive maintenance schedules for hospital environmental equipment.
  • Repairs, installs, replaces and tests mechanical equipment.
  • Works with various filters, boiler water treatment, and generators.
  • Lubricates and cleans equipment.
  • Assists with the installation of electrical equipment.
  • Utilizes supplies and equipment efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Maintains the hospital and clinic grounds
  • Maintains and tests emergency generator as per maintenance schedule.
  • General maintenance at Family Practice Clinics, HVAC, plumbing and electrical at Clinics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
