DESCRIPTION OF WORK The intern in this position will gain practical experience by assisting the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (BAMR) design team in developing projects focused on acid mine drainage remediation and abandoned mine land. Responsibilities will include supporting field investigations concerning abandoned mine issues, utilizing knowledge from various engineering disciplines such as mining engineering, geology, mine design, surveying, hydraulics, environmental engineering and civil engineering to assess environmental and human health & safety challenges presented by abandoned mine issues. Furthermore, the intern will aid in the preparation of project development packages, gather water samples and other materials related to mining, and enter data as needed. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunchTelework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable majors:
Environmental Engineering Civil Engineering Mining EngineeringAn approved major course of study at an accredited college or university. Freshman year completed.Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
