The Automotive Technology Diploma program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in the automotive service and repair profession. Learning opportunities enable students to develop academic, technical and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of automotive mechanics theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an Automotive Technology diploma that qualifies them as entry-level technicians. Length of Program: Five (5) Semesters Entrance Dates: Beginning of each semester. Age: Applicant must be 16 years of age or older and have a valid drivers license Education: An applicant must be a high school graduate or the equivalent (GED). College transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis. Additional Requirements: Students are required to obtain the necessary tools for the program prior to enrollment. Program Final Exit Point: Automotive Technology, Diploma. Credits Required for Graduation: 58 minimum semester hour credits required for graduation. Note: Students currently enrolled in a local high school may receive a waiver regarding the requirement for a valid drivers license. A student with a drivers license waiver will not be allowed to operate a moving motor vehicle.
