La Crescent/ Caledonia.Job Summary:Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) is responsible for providing quality care that reflects our mission to honor and respect each person supported. Must have the ability and desire to work with people who have developmental disabilities or related conditions.Qualifications & Skills:Required :* Dress patients according to their needs, ranging from minimal assistance to totally dependent* Assist people supported in maintaining appropriate hygiene needs as specified in person specific plans: Bathe using bed baths, tub baths or showers* Toilet people supported and assist with bedpans and urinals; may also help transport patients to the bathroom and provide incontinent care* Record patient vital signs* Ensure that non-ambulatory people supported are turned regularly, to ensure comfort and to prevent bedsores* Lift, move, and transport using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention. Maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate equipment and machines used in the performance of this job (mechanical lifts, shower equipment, adjustable chairs/ beds, etc.)* Report all changes of people supported to physical and mental, to supervisor. Providing input to supervisors on goals, methodologies and progress related to the programs of people being supported. Complete daily documentation on the care provided concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.* Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment* Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required for specific locationsPreferred:* * Previous experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilitiesRole Responsibilities and Essential Functions:People Supported:* Demonstrate respect for each person's right to dignity, privacy, individualized attention, and choice in a comfortable, orderly, safe and clean environment* Be knowledgeable of the vulnerabilities and needs of all people supported - demonstrating the ability to implement all plans of protection relating to those vulnerabilities* Demonstrate consistent use of behavior intervention and management techniques in a manner that is respectful and as least intrusive as possible* Perform the functions of trained medication assistant by carrying out health care plans and treatments, administering and documenting medications: monitoring the use of medications as well as side effects; and reporting any errors* Knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for patientsEducation and Training* High school graduate preferred* Graduate of State-approved training program* Current CNA license, in good standing with the State licensing board* Uphold HIPAA regulations* Maintain current certification in First Aid, TMA, and PBS* Eighteen (18) years or older* Federal, State and GHR-required credentials current and on filePersonal Characteristics:* Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts. It is important to be flexible with work locations, even during scheduled hours to accommodate the needs of the people supported* Exhibits a strong send of empathy and a desire to serve, high level of integrity, guided by a sound set of ethical principles* Respect cultural and religious practices of people supported* Interacts with a wide variety of individuals in a friendly and professional manner* A positive communicator who has a listening presence* A strong work ethic including punctuality* Dresses in a manner appropriate for job activities* An ability to balance both team and individual responsibilities* Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, maintaining a positive and professional approachWork Environment:Work is performed in a temperature-controlled home environment.Direct Reports:* NoneTravel: Local travel is requiredPhysical Requirements and Demands:* Must be able to stand for extended periods of time talk* Hear, walk, use arms and hands, reach forward* Must be able to lift 50 pounds: moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 100 pounds following proper body mechanics and procedures for lifting/moving.
