Registered Nurse (RN) - Employee Health

Position Summary:
· Provides and promotes employee health programs to employees, physicians, volunteers and students. Supports the worker's compensation program and OSHA log for Sovah Health - Martinsville.
· Conducts pre-employment and annual health screening tests for all employees.
· Screens employees who become ill or injured on the job, and makes appropriate referrals for further treatment when appropriate for the employee.
· Monitors, treats, and counsels employees exposed to communicable diseases, based on protocols.
· Administers medications according to standing and/or written orders.
· Documents and maintains accurate and current employee health records.
· Keeps abreast of current theory and practice of nursing.
· Attends educational seminars and courses related to employee health issues.
· Participates on hospital Infection Control Committee and Safety Committee.
· Compiles monthly and quarterly reports for quality assurance and corporate requirements.
· HR contact for student intern/shadowing program.
· Maintains and posts OSHA logs.
· Reports all referred employee injuries to Insurance Carrier.
· Maintains accurate records for Workers' Compensation claims.
· Makes all follow-up contacts with Carrier representatives, medical caretakers and employee.
· Works cooperatively with Hospital's WC carrier representatives and medical caregivers to facilitate and expedite the employee's return to work.
· Arranges for and monitors all temporary light-duty assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State required.
· Minimum of three years' experience in nursing required. Experience in employee health, occupational health preferred.
