Accounts Payable AssociateGreat Plains Communications is growing! We are looking for an experienced and detail oriented person to fill the position of Accounts Payable Associate.This position will prepare timely and accurate entries of vendor invoices into NISC system and subsequent payment to vendors. Will review General Ledger (GL) codes or assigns GL codes to invoices according to general ledger account matrix and definitions, including departments and activity codes. Will monitor Accounts Payable payments according to Reimbursable Expense Policy. Will prepare sales and use tax returns for companies.Duties include: Understands how to apply companies, departments, general ledger accounts and activity codes to accounts payable expenses. Applies general ledger account codes per account definition and works with manager to keep definitions updated. Understands the sales/use tax rules for Nebraska. Consistently checks invoices for additional taxes and applies the proper general ledger coding to record the liability. Consistently applies company accounts payable policy. Processes Accounts Payable payment requests accurately and according to invoice payment terms. Maintains and files weekly paid invoice files. Monitors Accounts Payable and sales/use tax knowledge sources to become aware of rule changes or processing enhancements. Sends requests for information to new vendors prior to payment. Monitors information requests to ensure compliance or begins backup withholding. Monitors contractor database of the State of Nebraska for vendor compliance. Interacts and participates effectively with managers, co-workers, and others; affects positively the performance of other employees, including assisting co-workers and working to accomplish job and company objectives. Interacts with Accounting Department personnel and participates in group discussions, planning and projects. Maintains the confidentiality and integrity of customer information. Answers the telephone before 3 rings. Displays professionalism and enthusiasm on the telephone. Returns phone calls immediately. Checks voice mail daily and Email at least three times daily; morning, noon and evening.
