The Van Drunen Family of Companies is growing! JOB OVERVIEW: Working in conjunction with the Quality department, the Quality Laboratory Technician prepares samples for laboratory analysis and maintains documentation of process to facilitate analysis procedures. This role requires fastidious execution of laboratory methodologies and standard operating procedures within the technical areas of microbiological, physical, and organoleptic analysis. The position may also entail coordination of external laboratory testing and entry of internal and external lab reports. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include:
- Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing and blending, and testing samples according to SOPs
- Execute microbiological testing according to the analysis process being performed
- Perform and document additional testing per lab testing forms and specifications
- Set up, calibrate, and sterilize equipment needed for analysis of samples
- Execute physical and organoleptic product analysis per established SOPs
- Maintain records of all quality activities as documented in procedures and test methods
- Notify Quality Lab Manager of any deviations or potential nonconformances at any time
- Coordinate and track 3rd party lab testing as needed
- Performs other testing or duties as assigned
JOB EXPERIENCE
: - One or more of years laboratory experience (professional and/or educational) in microbiology, biology, food science, or related field preferred
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Intelligent, organized, detail-oriented, good work ethic, positive attitude
- Strong prioritization and time-management skills
- Ability to think critically and analytically
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with team members in a constructive manner that fosters an environment of teamwork and continuous improvement
- Proficient in basic computing with ability to assimilate new programs and applications
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or Biological Sciences preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time required
- Performance of repetitive tasks utilizing arms, hands, and fingers required
- Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds
- The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Laboratory setting wherein majority of workday is spent working alongside team members.
