Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist FLSA Status: ExemptJob Family: Human ResourcesDepartment: Human ResourcesLocation: Corporate Office (Fort Wayne, IN)***Please note that this position is not eligible for sponsorship.JOB SUMMARYProvide human resource support by maintaining positive relationships between employees and management by investigating and resolving workplace conflicts, ensuring compliance with employment laws, advising management on employee concerns, and promoting a healthy work environment through policy interpretation and conflict resolution strategies.POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Conduct thorough review into employment related disciplinary matters, investigations, and employee grievances in a legal, timely, and culturally aligned manner. Draft and maintain documentation on employment matters.
  • Counsel managers and employees regarding employment issues. Assist managers with performance management issues, including coaching and addressing performance concerns with employee. Facilitate discussions between employees and managers to resolve disputes, mediate disagreements, and reach solutions.
  • Research, counsel, and implement employee benefit and practice compliance, such as ADA, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA, ACA, and HIPAA.
  • Administer immigration employment process.
  • Remain current on applicable statutes, common law, and other legal concepts in order to effectively accomplish HR & corporate projects.
  • Train on human resources topics internally and externally as directed by the Vice-President - Human Resources.
  • Provide guidance to employees and management on company policies and procedures.
  • Administer employee handbook policy revisions and compliance.
  • Track employee relations data, identifying patterns, and presenting findings to HR leadership to inform strategic decisions.
  • Undertake HR and corporate projects as assigned
  • Collaborate with HR staff on all functional disciplines (benefits, compensation, hiring and recruitment, training, special events, communications, and other operational areas).
  • Represent the Human Resources function internally and externally with professional expertise, innovative approaches and a cooperative attitude in order to advance the corporate and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Serve on cross company teams as requested.
  • Assist the Vice President - Human Resources with special projects as assigned.
  • Respond to external inquiries, vendor requests, and routine employee questions as required.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Must possess excellent written, prioritization, and organizational skills.

  • Must possess the ability to navigate high conflict environments and confrontational situations in a healthy, professional, missionally aligned and balanced manner both personally and as an HR representative.
  • Must possess knowledge of employment and benefit law.
  • Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Must demonstrate proven experience in conflict resolution and mediation techniques and work well under pressure with sensitive interpersonal situations and with multiple deadlines.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, executives, managers, and department staff members.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have at least 4 years working in a corporate or legal environment, preferably with emphasis in employment/HR.
  • Must have experience working in a high conflict environment.
  • CPCU, PHR, or SPHR designations are desired.
