Job DescriptionThis role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church. This position exists to provide operational processing, retail, and development management expertise of the day-to-day operations of a Deseret Industries Store. The incumbent will provide daily support to all store staff including the store manager. This support may include: conflict resolution, customer service, coordination of all retail and processing operations, development services, handling of store monies, staff and associate training, and ensuring that the mission and purpose of DI is being met. Customers include: Church leaders, associates, job coach trainers, store manager, store patrons, donors, volunteers, and missionaries. Customers can expect a professional and compassionate interaction with an Assistant Store Manager. They will be able to handle all matters that arise in a store with tact, skill, and honesty.ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Store Manager:5% Coordinate all store personnel including shift coverage, area coverage, and workload.4% Coordinate incoming donations, ensuring that incoming donations are processed appropriately and in a timely fashion ensuring inventory flow and efficient retail processing operations.10% Coordinate all sales floor activities, ensuring that all store standards are met.4% Responsible for resolving customer and associate complaints, needs and related issues.2% Responsible for emergency situations as they arise.50% Supervise Job Coach Trainers. (15% Ensure that all associates are being trained according to DI policies and purpose including weekly and quarterly Results & Development discussions.3% Maintain a safe working environment through the application of established safety guidelines, sound principles, and the establishment of a working safety committee.3% As requested, meet with local (Ward, Stake, and Area) Church leaders to educate and train regarding DI services.

(3%)QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field of study: business administration, retail operations, or related.Requires six years of experience with at least four years of experience managing others and operations in a retail and processing environment. Experience working with individuals who have a disability is a plus.Ability to lead, coach, teach, and manage people and processes and effectively implement policies and procedures is a must to be successful as an Assistant Store Manager.Proven track record in providing successful customer service, resolving conflicts, negotiation, and performance management.Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job required which includes ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs., to walk and stand for long periods of time, to bend, twist, stoop and climb as needed.About UsChurch employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and abilities to further the Lord's work.
