This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Description: Custodian and Summer Maintenance Nezperce School DistrictPosition Title: Custodian Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor or Building Principal Location: Nezperce School District (Elementary, Gymnasium, and Secondary) Employment Status: Full-Time Hours: Varies based on school needs / Typically 40 hrs a weekPosition SummaryThe Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors at both the elementary and high school campuses. This role involves performing daily cleaning tasks, basic maintenance, and ensuring that all school facilities meet health and safety standards.This individual should be a self starter who is consistently looking for ways to improve the campus and the systems they implement. We are looking for someone who takes pride in the school campus and who will play an integral part in establishing a positive learning and work environment.Key Responsibilities Cleaning and MaintenanceClean classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, offices, and other school areas daily.Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors and surfaces.Empty trash.Dust and clean furniture, windows, and fixtures.Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.Deep cleaning during summer months and other non-student hours (e.g., shampooing carpets, painting, etc.)Safety and ComplianceEnsure all areas are free from hazards and follow school safety protocols.Secure school facilities, including locking/unlocking doors and windows, and setting alarms as needed.Recognize and address spills, accidents, or other unforeseen needs.Maintenance SupportPerform minor repairs (e.g., fixing door handles, replacing light bulbs, paint).Notify the maintenance supervisor of larger repair needs.Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture for school events.Seasonal and Specialized TasksAssist with snow removal and de-icing walkways during winter months.Maintain outdoor areas, including playgrounds and school grounds.Support school functions and activities with custodial needs as requested.Qualifications Required:High school diploma or equivalent.Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.Ability to pass a background check in accordance with district policies.Preferred:Previous custodial or maintenance experience in a school or similar environment.Familiarity with basic maintenance tools and cleaning equipment.Skills and CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and ability to work independently.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for students and staff.Work EnvironmentThe position requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.Exposure to cleaning chemicals and outdoor weather conditions.CompensationThe Nezperce School District offers competitive hourly wages and benefits based on experience and qualifications.
