The Buyer manages the procurement process, including processing purchase requisitions and orders, collaborating with internal teams, and addressing procurement issues. The candidate will negotiate contracts and short-term purchase orders while maintaining a strong supplier relationship. Responsibilities also include monitoring supplier performance and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.Essential Duties
- Using the approved supplier list, negotiate supplier contracts and terms to secure best quality, delivery and cost for goods and services required by the organization.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, facilitating regular cadence of governance.
- Monitor supplier performance, track key performance indicators, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Reviews and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders, maintain purchase order accuracy and ensure compliance with all company policies.
- Work closely with A/P and Materials team as it relates to purchases, invoices, and receiving.
- Address day-to-day procurement issues like delivery delays or quality concerns.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Work with planning and operational excellence team to implement lean practices with supplier such as kanban, min/max or just in time manufacturing processes.
- Prepare and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain the supplier master and all purchasing data in the ERP system.
Essential Requirements
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and production planning software. SAP experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to problem-solve.
- Self-starter with ability to multitask to accommodate business needs.
- Exceptional negotiation skills; experienced in developing win-win relationships with key suppliers.
Additional Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
- Certifications in supply chain management, such as APICS CPIM or CSCP, are a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically or Internationally (up to 20%).
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or combination of degree and experience.
- 2 years of experience or more in procurement, materials management, or supply chain roles.
- 2 years of experience or more in a manufacturing facility.
