As the Senior Property Maintenance Inspector for the City of Janesville, you will partner with property owners and community members to address nuisance properties and housing violations.   • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in construction, housing, human services, police or fire science, or a closely related is required
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service experience is required.
  • Current Dwelling Code Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire or promotion is required.
  • A valid state-issued driver's license at time of hire is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in construction, public health, police or fire science, social services, housing, or closely related field from an accredited college or university is desirable.
Unsure you meet the qualifications?A combination of equivalent experience, education, or professional training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements. Supplemental Information What is the typical schedule? A regular Monday - Friday, 40-hour work schedule between the office hours of 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM, is required for this position. There is some flexibility to choose to your schedule between office hours. This position requires the ability to respond to emergency callouts after regular business hours.What is the pay?The starting annual salary for this position is $58,428; or $28.09 per hour; this is a non-exempt position This position is also eligible for annual economic adjustments and performance-based adjustments, as approved by the City Manager.Are there other benefits?Absolutely!
