The Role
As a Senior Events Marketing Strategist, you will lead the development and execution of high-impact, large-scale event marketing strategies that drive brand visibility, audience engagement, and business growth. This senior role requires a highly analytical, creative, and results-driven individual with extensive experience in both event marketing and integrated marketing strategies. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing comprehensive plans that align with organizational goals, enhance brand presence, and drive revenue growth. This position will include work with sports and entertainment clients, with an emphasis on the tennis and golf industries.
In this role, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including creative, digital, and leadership, to influence business outcomes and deliver high-impact marketing campaigns. As a senior member of the marketing team, you will mentor junior strategists, provide thought leadership, and contribute to the overall growth and success of the marketing department.
Event related travel, as well as select night and weekend work, will be required during client events.
The Job
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement advanced, multi-channel event marketing strategies that align with business goals, maximize ROI, and drive growth. Oversee the execution of marketing plans across digital, social, email, content, and traditional channels.
- Leadership & Team Collaboration: Lead the development of integrated events marketing campaigns, collaborating with cross-functional creative and digital teams. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior strategists and other team members.
- Event Promotion & Communications: Drive pre-event, during-event, and post-event marketing campaigns through various channels, including email, social media, digital ads, and content marketing. Optimize event promotion strategies to maximize registration, attendance, and engagement.
- Market Research & Insights: Conduct in-depth market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, customer behaviors, and industry opportunities. Translate data-driven insights into actionable strategies to improve market positioning.
- Performance Analysis & Reporting: Measure the success of events through detailed performance analysis, including attendee feedback, lead generation, engagement metrics, and ROI. Use data-driven insights to refine future strategies and ensure continuous improvement in event effectiveness.
- Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the planning and management of event budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and cost-effectively. Negotiate contracts with media outlets and marketing partners to maximize event impact within budgetary constraints.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the key events marketing expert, presenting regular updates and strategic insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders. Influence key decisions and provide recommendations for future event strategies based on data and industry trends.
- Innovation & Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of trends in event marketing, incorporating new technologies, creative formats, and emerging best practices into event strategies. Drive innovation in event design, including virtual, hybrid, and experiential formats.
The Skills
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in marketing strategy, with a proven track record of leading successful marketing campaigns and initiatives. Previous experience in a senior or leadership role. Working in the areas of sports and events is highly preferred.
- Strategic Expertise: Strong understanding of strategic marketing principles and how to leverage a range of marketing tactics (digital, traditional, content, etc.) to achieve business goals.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple events and campaigns simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Analytical: Experience with event performance tracking, metrics, and analytics tools. Ability to interpret data to assess event success and make data-driven decisions for future events.
- Creative Vision: Excellent ability to think creatively and develop innovative marketing solutions that engage target audiences and drive brand growth.
- Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present strategic recommendations and insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Background in Events Marketing: Strong background in event marketing, with expertise in ticket sales and partnerships to enhance visibility and drive audience engagement.
- Tech & Innovation - Proficient with modern tools and technology, including familiarity with AI. Expertise with marketing automation, CRM systems, web analytics, social media platforms, and reporting tools.
