Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
* Performs a variety of routine and non-routine clerical/accounting functions, in accordance with procedures. May provide support in one or more areas (i.e., direct bill, agency bill, general accounting, accounts receivable, etc.).
* Provides billing information, account reconciliation, and billing problem resolution to internal and external customers involving multiple lines of insurance.
* Utilizes working knowledge of multiple billing and/or policy applications and processing procedures to effectively service customer inquiries of a complex nature.
* May follow-up on complex delinquent accounts including communication with collection agencies and other entities.
* Requires inbound and outbound phone support.
* Reconcile payments/receipts with account information.
* Fosters and builds relationships with other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems, using both written and/or verbal communication.
* Prepares account analysis, reviewing the entire relationship across one or more billing systems.
* May gather data to compile reports and/or create ad hoc reports.
* Complies with appropriate regulations and/or company policies and guidelines.
* Provides guidance and assistance to lower-level positions, as well as serving as a back-up to others.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Field of Study: Business, Accounting or a related discipline preferred.
Experience: Generally 3 to 7 years of related experience. Previous experience in the insurance industry preferred.
