Job DescriptionMaintenance Technician I (Mechanical)General Statement of Responsibilities:Installs and repairs mechanical systems, apparatus, and mechanical components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties:
  • Maintain and repair plant equipment, machinery, and systems. Service, install, and repair plant plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, machinery, and systems.
  • Performs millwright, welding, and carpentry work as needed.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and recommend repairs, or replacement of equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Observes/Troubleshoots equipment and machinery and dismantles same if necessary to determine the causes of trouble. Repairs or replaces defective parts of equipment and machinery.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts of equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Tests equipment and machinery to evaluate repair or need for further repair.
  • Sets up and operates equipment and machinery such as lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools that aid in repair.
  • Support the Plant quality systems goals/improvements productivity goals/improvements within the scope of the job.
  • Support the Plant safety programs/goals within the scope of the job.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Compliance with applicable Company, Corporate, State and Federal regulations.
  • 5S (Sort, Shine, Set in Order, Standardize, and Sustain) is required of every job
  • Education Experience:Associate's degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience. Completion of any formalized training courses as identified by Department Supervisor/Facilities Engineering Manager.Language, Math, Reasoning Ability Requirements:Language- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with vendors or employees of the organization.Math- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.Reasoning- Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Physical Demands/Work Environment:Physical- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.Work Environment- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
